By Marie-Charlotte Praetorius

Five streaming services from Bavaria, giving out special promotional offers in this time of crisis, continue to provide great entertainment. Plus, subscribers to these services are supporting the Bavarian media industry during the Coronavirus crisis.

The next challenge is on the horizon: Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube have driven down the transmission quality of their streaming offers in order to reduce the network load. Facebook and Instagram have also decreased the quality of their video streams. Moreover, TV, series, and film launches have been cancelled or put on hold. Will the next weeks be extremely boring? No! These five streaming services from Bavaria, giving out special promotional offers in this time of crisis, continue to provide great entertainment. Plus, subscribers to these services are supporting the Bavarian media industry during the Coronavirus crisis.

1. DAZN

Streaming service provider DAZN, aka Da Zone (“The Zone”), has made it its focus to provide live sports of every kind online. The "Netflix of sports" offers a wide range of services for all sports enthusiasts and is particularly known for broadcasting all Friday, Sunday, and Monday matches played by football league German Bundesliga. But this begs the question: what can currently be streamed if there are no live events? DAZN is on the ball and has begun to focus more on sports documentaries, reports, and historical highlights as a means to surmount the current crisis. If you’re looking for a good time, subscribe to DAZN, lean back, turn on your TV, and immerse yourself in the exciting past of sports.

Cost: one month free trial, then €11.99 / month. Annual subscription of €119.99.

2. Disney+

Good timing! The streaming service provider Disney+ was launched on March 24th in Germany, 2020, just when the confinement began, to help pass the sometimes very long days. The image quality, contrary to its original plan, is temporarily slightly reduced. However, this cannot dampen the amazing offer of more than 1,000 films and series provided by Disney+. Choose between “Bambi,” “Monsters, Inc.,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and more—there’s something for the whole family!

Cost: €6.99 / month, annual subscription of €69.00.

3. Joyn PLUS+

Joyn PLUS+ has been a major streaming player on the Bavarian market since its launch in November 2019. This platform emerged following a joint venture between former streaming platform Joyn, ProSiebenSat.1, and Discovery. By mid-2020, Joyn PLUS+ will also include the video-on-demand services maxdome and Eurosport Player. Whether its live TV, pay-per-view, Joyn originals, exclusive content, or sports programs, Joyn PLUS+ offers everything you could ever wish for!

If you've had enough of television after the confinement, you can cancel your subscription at any time.
