A good atmosphere, exciting talks and the Greek sun – these were the hallmarks of Radiodays Europe 2025 from March 9 to 11. This year, the European audio industry met in Athens – and on Sunday evening at the get-together of XPLR: MEDIA in Bavaria.
Radiodays Europe is considered one of the most important events in the European audio industry. The three-day conference brings together leading minds from radio, podcasting and digital audio – every year in a different European city.
While topics such as AI, podcasts, radio programming and the latest tool developments were discussed at the conference in the Megaron Athens International Conference Center, the first evening was spent networking and toasting together at our get-together. In the stylish setting of the RUINS Athens Urban Area bar in the old town of Athens, the Bavarian and international audio community came together to exchange ideas, make new contacts and round off the first day of the conference with a drink.
For the fourth time, XPLR: MEDIA in Bavaria organized a relaxed evening at Radiodays Europe, where the Bavarian presence was presented on the international stage and media makers from all over Europe came together.
Full house: Many Radiodays guests probably remembered our hospitality from last year, when the Radiodays took place in Munich – this year's get-together of XPLR: MEDIA in Bavaria was also well attended and a complete success.
The sound of XPLR: MEDIA: We brought a brand new project to the evening: After a few words of welcome, our team presented the “Beat of Bavaria”. As part of this competition, we went in search of an unmistakable sound that stands for us and Bavaria as a media location.
Pub quiz about radio: Lukas Schöne, our colleague from Mediennetzwerk Bayern, then provided the icebreaker of the evening with a funny pub quiz. One of the most curious questions: “What happened when an Austrian radio presenter accidentally locked himself in the studio in 2015?” – The answer: He played “Last Christmas” 24 times in a continuous loop until his colleagues got up and drove to the studio to get him out.
Relaxed entertainment: In addition to exciting conversations, there was delicious Greek food, a selection of drinks, music and numerous opportunities to network with colleagues from all over Europe.
Among the guests were media makers from leading European radio stations and companies, including rbb, Radio Arabella and DAVID Systems from Germany, BBC and Aiir from the UK, NRK from Norway, Radio Poznan from Poland, Sveriges Radio from Sweden, Radio Aktual from Slovenia and Latvijas Radio from Lithuania.
At the end of the evening, the XPLR: MEDIA in Bavaria team looked into many smiling and relaxed faces – proof of how important personal exchange is for the creative and economic development of the industry.
The get-together in Athens underscores XPLR: MEDIA in Bavaria's commitment to presenting the Bavarian media industry internationally and providing forward-looking impetus. The next opportunity to get to know our work and Bavaria as a media location will be in May, when we will be presenting Bavarian best cases at our own stand. Until then – stay tuned!
