Rarely has a new technology had the potential to change the world as much as the invention of generative artificial intelligence. Even though generative AI is still a young discipline, many innovative minds have already mastered its use – including in Bavaria. Young companies from the Bavarian media landscape are using the technology in creative and diverse ways – for themselves, but also for others. For example, by developing helpful AI tools for media professionals. You should remember these six names.

Storybook Studios

They are technical pioneers in the film industry: the production company Storybook Studios, which is part of Pantaflix AG, wants to revolutionise storytelling and the production of moving image productions with the help of AI. The idea is to integrate artificial intelligence into every step of production and thus make the film-making process faster and more cost-effective. This approach allows film projects to be created much more easily and with fewer resources. The Munich-based team around CEO Stephanie Schettler-Köhler and Founder Dan Maag is currently taking off with its innovative concept - even film producers from Hollywood have already taken notice of the Bavarian media makers. Their most recent success is the release of their first production "Space Vets", which was created entirely with AI. The animated children's series is about vets who live in space.

As useful as voice technologies such as Amazon's Alexa or Apple's Siri already are – when you speak to them, you still get the feeling that a machine is answering. The systems still sound far too much like robots for a genuine, emotional conversation and are not yet able to respond sufficiently to human interaction. audEEring wants to change exactly that: The company, which is based in Gilching near Munich in Upper Bavaria, has developed voice AI technology that enables machines to understand human voices and respond with empathy. The AI analyses 16,000 acoustic data points per second and can capture the complexity of voice and speech on a whole new scale. As a result, audEEring is paving the way for a new era of empathetic AI interactions.

HypeRate.io

Streamers know the problem: the biggest effort comes after the live session when it comes to editing summaries and highlight videos. The team at HypeRate.io, led by founder Hendrikje Wagner, thought that sifting through hours of footage and searching for the best moments should be easier. The company has developed an AI assistant that recognises the most emotional moments based on physical signals such as heartbeat and thus finds the best clips for a highlight video. Using this data, which is collected by a smart watch, the AI can automatically create targeted highlights.  HypeRate.io's product is aimed directly at the e-sports and gaming industry. HypeRate.io's vision is to make content more emotional, exciting and engaging – and streamers more successful as a result.

Start-up Support From the Media Lab Bayern

Innovative start-ups find support and funding at Media Lab Bayern. Companies such as Footprint Intelligence, HypeRate.io and RedakTool are among the projects that have worked with the Lab in the past or are currently doing so.

Loyalift

Discovering trends before they even become a trend – that's what Loyalift wants to enable its customers to do. The start-up from Niclas O. Bell, Niklas Klausner and David Hamann offers an innovative B2B SaaS solution for advertisers. Whether on Twitch, TikTok or meta platforms: Loyalift uses artificial intelligence, among other things, to analyse video content, whether uploads or live content. The software creates detailed marketing dashboards, provides real-time insights into interactions and identifies moods in the communities or key moments in engagement. Based on the results of these analyses, brands can develop PR and marketing strategies that precisely meet the needs of their target group.

RedakTool.ai

In everyday editorial work, there are many time-consuming tasks that could easily be taken over by an AI assistant – at least if it works in good quality. The Munich-based start-up RedakTool.ai is working on such reliable support for editorial teams. Its product is a kind of AI collection in which editors and content creators can find the best existing AI offerings for various tasks. "With RedakTool.ai, I want to create a free tool to help people create professional text content of all kinds more efficiently and cost-effectively, as well as transcribe audio content. It's an AI toolbox that integrates the best AI models, prompts and technologies," explains founder Aron Homberg. The AI tool for editors has not yet been officially launched and is currently in the beta test phase.

Footprint Intelligence

Footprint Intelligence is a SaaS platform that enables media companies to achieve their climate targets in record time. With his start-up, founder Daniel Scholz wants to help companies find out how big the footprint of their media projects is – and how they can reduce it and thus become more sustainable. The service is aimed at media companies and agencies, marketing companies, creative agencies and ad tech companies. The AI helps them to efficiently analyse their projects and create official communication material. Footprint Intelligence stands for real decarbonisation without greenwashing.
