Virtual Reality: XPLR Brings Bavarian XR Cases to re:publica
Culture, education, cinema or gaming: XR is now an integral part of the media world. Development is progressing rapidly – and a lot is also happening in Bavaria as a media location. At re:publica in Berlin, XPLR: MEDIA in Bavaria will have its own stand where visitors can immerse themselves in two XR applications that were developed in Munich. As a technical innovation the Apple Vision Pro will also be part of the appearance.
"Who cares?" is the motto of this year's re:publica in Berlin – and XPLR: MEDIA has thought: "We do!" The topic of XR is particularly close to our hearts this year, and we want to bring it closer to the tech-savvy audience at the "Festival for the Digital Society" from May 27 to 29 in an interactive way. That's why we're traveling to the capital – together with two cool XR cases from Munich.
"Tapestry of Spaces" – The XR experience of the Munich Symphony Orchestra
What happens when you bring together musicians from the Münchner Symphoniker and artificial intelligence? It arises „The Tapestry of Spaces – Das Lied der Räume“. In this original project, artists merge with AI as top-class musicians interpret a generated melody. What makes the project particularly exciting is the location in which the symphony musicians play: Munich's Kunstlabor 2 provided seven rooms as a stage, which various artists transformed into exhibition objects. The AI model used photos of these rooms to develop the melody played.
This art project can be experienced in virtual reality at the XPLR: MEDIA stand at re:publica. Together with representatives of the renowned Munich orchestra, conference visitors can immerse themselves in the art spaces and discover what a cultural and playful encounter between man and machine can look like.
XR-trip to ancient egypt
The "Egyptian Illusory Gate", designed by the Munich-based developer studio Govar for the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen Mannheim, takes you to a completely different culture - and a completely different era. When the VR glasses are put on, a huge ancient stone gate decorated with hieroglyphics appears directly in front of the user.
You can now decide for yourself how you want to discover the historic building from ancient Egypt: Do you first take a walk around the massive structure? Do you marvel at the ancient walls with their symbols from a long-forgotten time? Or do you dare to step through the entrance gate to discover the treasures inside?
Our own case on the Apple Vision Pro
We also have a little goodie in store for our stand visitors: At the Apple Vision Pro, we will be presenting an interactive case that introduces our XPLR: MEDIA in Bavaria initiative as well as our umbrella brand Medien.Bayern GmbH and our sister initiatives.
Would you like to immerse yourself in our Bavarian cases? We look forward to seeing you at re:publica in Berlin.
